Dermatology - Itchy Rash

Expert: Michael S. Fisher, Ph.D., M.D. - 11/5/2009

Question
I have had this itchy rash on the sole of my foot for quite a while. I have tried all kinds of athlete foot cream (thinking that is what it was). It will itch like crazy for a day or two, then stop for a few days and then it comes right back. It has little bumps on it (almost like little bitty blisters). Please tell me what this could be, or at least how to make it go away.
Thank you,
Donna

Answer
You most likely have what is called Dyshidrotic Eczema. Treatment is with super potent cortisone like prescription strength Clobex lotion twice a day for two weeks then off 1 week. I recommend you visit your local dermatologist for a prescriptin for this topical medication.
