Dermatology - skin rash

Expert: Michael S. Fisher, Ph.D., M.D. - 11/3/2009

Question
I have been getting these skin lesions on for approx 2-3 weeks now. They each last about a 4 days. They start of like a pinkish bump and rapidly form into a bigger red itchy bump that once scratched turns into a mosquite bite like lesion. At first I was getting them on my arms, shoulder, hand, neck and face but now (approx 4 days ago) ive been getting them on my legs too. Weirdly, the ones on my legs turned into red bruised-like lesions (like blood shot). But only the ones on my legs. My family doctor had no idea what it was and has asked me to consult a dermatologist.

Answer
You most likely have Papular Urticaia. This can be due to a bite reaction like fleas or mosquitos. This could also be a hypersensitivity reaction meaning this is a reflection of something systemic like foods, or low grade infections, or a drug eruption. Since I cannot see your skin, I recommend that you visit your local dermatologist.
