Dermatology - patch of dry/flaky skin under one eye

Expert: Uribe - 6/3/2009

Question
I have this patch of dry/rough skin under my left eye. (in the corner close to the nose) I have had it for a long time, it comes and it goes. Lately I've now had it a month or two and it's really annoying because I think it looks ugly. It is flaky, dry and kind of wrinkly/pruney looking almost. If I try to flake off the little dead skin particles there, they will flake off but then the skin will be all red and may sting a little if I try to put on some cream over it or anything (otherwise there is no pain or discomfort aside from how it looks)

I have been to my regular doctor and 2 different dermotologists in the past. They were not helpful and didn't exactly know what it was. They had me throw out my entire make up collection and replace it (didn't work) they gave me desonide cream and one other similar type of ointment to try but those don't seem to provide any help.

Any suggestions?
I'm tired of paying for doctors/meds that don't help and dealing with the insecurities it causes
