Dermatology - Small Bumps on Back of Hand

Expert: Uribe - 7/4/2009

Question
Starting probably 5 to 7 years ago, I started finding small (1-2 mm) sized, skin-colored bumps on the back of my right hand.  My left hand also has a number of them now.  The number of these spots has grown over the last 5 years to 20-30 on my right hand and 10-20 on my left hand.  They aren’t noticeable except under certain lighting causing shadows.  Each bump is slightly raised and slightly lighter than the surrounding skin.  They’re perfectly painless and just as soft as the surrounding skin.  I tried several times to scrape one of them off, and it came off easily and left a raw and slightly bleeding patch of skin.  After a week or two, the bumps grew back just as they were before I touched them.  Having searched for answers, I still can’t find out what these bumps are.  Any ideas?

Answer
Please read my expertise;  this site is only to help in a diagnosis, through photos.
In order to help you, please take some pictures (web size) and send them to jvelasq51@hotmail.com with the words JMC at subject; don´t forget to make your question on the message text.
If you can´t, or you have any concerns with your skin or its treatment, please visit a board certified dermatologist, preferably at an University Hospital.
I don´t prescribe by internet.
Uribe.
