Hi I am worried about some brownish discolouration on my penis head. I am a 26 year old uncircumcised male and only 2 years ago have I been able to retract my foreskin, prior to that it was very tight. I have no problem retracting now and clean regularly. But the discolouration has me scared of penile cancer. I have attached a picture, I have no pain or discharge I might add. I don't know how long its been this colour as I wasn't able to retract my foreskin until a few years ago. But I have notice the discolouration for over a year. It is barely noticeable when I am erect it is more noticeable when flaccid.

Answer
Postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is a frequently encountered problem and represents the sequelae of various cutaneous disorders as well as therapeutic interventions. This acquired excess of pigment can be attributed to various preceding disease processes that affect the skin such as infections, allergic reactions, mechanical injuries, reactions to medications, phototoxic eruptions, trauma (eg, burns), and inflammatory diseases (eg, lichen planus, lupus erythematosus, atopic dermatitis).
