Dermatology/Scaring

Question
Redness
Redness
I know you can't diagnose anything on here, but I had/have this bump on my face that I assumed was a whitehead or something and started scrapping at it with tweezers and a loop shaped whitehead removing tool and now the area is very red and I'm worried I've scarred myself permanently. Based on the picture should it heal on its own or does it require extra attention? It might take over a month for a derm appt. so I'm not sure I should bother, but am very scared I screwed up here.

Answer
I would treat the area with a topical antibiotic like polysporis. If puss develops then you would need an antibiotic. The skin on the face heals better than skin on the rest of the body. Therefore it is difficult to determine if there will be scaring. The area may heal well so it would be normal.
