Dermatology/burning sensation, no rash

I have something similar.  There is the sensation that often accompanies a rash or sunburn just below my right elbow on the left side.  There is nothing visibly different about that area of skin than any other area and it only hurts when touched, like a rash, but without the heat of a sunburn.  I've had this elbow resting on a red towel in that particular spot for a few days now, and someone said that they had this feeling and it was caused by alergy to red dye like in towels.

I am a 21 year old caucasian female.

I think it may be the red dye thing, and was never worried just perplexed, but in case I thought I'd ask.  And it's not too big a pain; I know that it is not a bug bite, the herpes virus [I'm a virgin], or a pulled muscle [had those before; much more painful], but may also be connected to my anemia somehow [don't know how though].

I had burning skin on my neck and shoulders. After seeing my PCP and an Allergist my Dermatologist nailed it as a compressed nerve in my neck. I was given a prescription for Gabapentin 300mg and that has cooled the burn. Hope this helps as I was in real pain and discomfort for two months.

I had what sounds like the same symptom. The pain in my arm was bad and got worse. Then it spread to both arms. I went everywhere to no avail. Finally, I was referred to a pain specialist and was diagnosed with neuropathy that stemmed from an earlier neck injury. It had gotten so bad as to limit my life and work every day, so I was very happy to find that there were options for remedy. Today I no longer have issues with this.
