Question
Hi.

I have a new JVC Everio HDD Camcorder (GZ-MG330HU) which I’ve used only once.  Uploading the vids to my PC was easy, but when I try to play them back in Windows Media Player, they have no sound.  My computer is a Dell Dimension 2300 running Windows XP.  It plays videos from my Sony Cybershot camera with no problem.

Do I need to download a special codec or something?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Answer
You probably need a computer expert.  I answer video production questions.

But I'll give it a shot....

It's possible that you could need some sort of codec.  I would upgrade my WM Player to the latest version before I did anything else.

Can you play back your footage in the camera or on another computer to make sure the camera is even recording sound?  Could be that there's no sound there to play.

The camera may be recording audio in a way that WM Player doesn't like.  There are tons of settings for audio.  You may have to play around a bit.

There are many things it could be and without some trial and error, that's about all I can offer.  Maybe a computer expert can tell you more.

Good luck.
