Question I have a Philips home cinema system (Philips HTS6515/05) which, according to the catalogue, can play Mpeg2/Divx files. It plays well those Avi/wmv files, but I have never tried the mpeg2s.
Now I want to buy a HDD/Flash media camcorder, either by Sony or Panasonic. I understand that you could copy the footage to a USB stick, just like any other multimedia file.
If this is true, then could you pls let me know whether a home cinema system can play those files directly?
Thank you.
Answer Quynh,
A definitive maybe.
If you buy a HDD/Flash media camcorder it won't record MPEG2 - rather it likely records MPEG-4 (AVCHD) And I'm not sure if the Phillips player plays that.
Of course, why don't you go to the local retailer and ask them to give you a file from the system (or contact Sony/Panasonic)?
Best,
Jeff G
p.s. it probably will play standard definition.....HD is something else.
