Desktop Video - DV to DVD

Expert: Jeff Greenberg - 6/3/2004

Question
Hi,
I am trying to copy some DV tapes onto DVD using windows XP. I have used the included video copying software in XP and this has successfully saved the tapes onto the hard drive, but the file size is too great to fit onto a DVD. I have Pinnacle software to burn to DVD.
I also have Premier 6.0 but have never used it.
Could you please tell me if there is an easy way to burn the video onto DVD so that it can be played in a standard DVD player. The discs are rewritable.
Thank you

Answer
When you user your DVD burning software - I'm assuming Pinnacle's Ulead?  It will convert the DV footage to DVD format (mpeg-2).

Figure you can fit around two hours on a DVD.

DV video just put on the DVD (used like a large CD rom) won't play on a DVD player...additionally it will only let you put about 25 minutes of DV.
