Question
In a certain plant there are on an average 4 accidents per month.Find the probability that in a given year there will be less than 4 accidents

Answer
This sounds like an exponential distribution with L=1/4 where L is for lambda.

Since the distribution is f(x) = Le^(-Lx),
the cumulative distribution is  1 - e^(-Lt) for x being between 0 and t.

The answer, since we are looking for x to be between 0 and 4, is 1 - e^(-4/4) = 1 - 1/e.
