Digital Photography - pixilated photos

Expert: Jim Delillo - 11/2/2009

Question
I have a Nikon D50 with Tamron lenses.  I recently have found that my photos have become very pixelated, even the 4 X 6 prints.  Any ideas on what could be causing this?   I just changed my SD card, and it is better, but enlargements are still getting that digitized look.

Answer
It sounds like you may have accidentally set the resolution i.e., Picture Quality to a lower level.
It gets more images per card, but increases pixelation.

File Quality
The Nikon D50 has four different file quality settings available, with Fine being the default option.
Make sure it is set to "Fine"

Also, you may be sing 'noise' which gets worse at the ISO setting goes up.
Try shooting at 100
