Digital Photography/Photos of miniature objects

Hi there! My passion for the past couple of years has been in ceramics. I've been creating small pieces ( about an inch to two inches in length )due to lack of space at the moment. I'd love to know how to take close ups of these pieces so that I can show the detail of my work. I have no knowledge of photography other than point and shoot - though I am doing research on how to light my pieces. Could you recommend a good camera within a $200.00 price range that could help me take theses kinds of photos? After I create a 'photo journal' of sorts, I'd like to post the pictures online. Thanks for taking the time to answer and have a great day!

Hi Janet,

Thank you for choosing all experts for a solution, and nice to know your interest

I suggest that if you have to shoot Macro / Micro images of 1-2 inches piece of art you do please select any of the below camera

1. canon Powershot SX50 IS

2. Fuji Finepix HS30

3 if you can get an old model (probably refurbished) Canon S5IS will be best bet and economical too

I hope I am able to answer your query, should you need any further support please mail us back with details

Warm wishes for the week ahead
