Question I need to scan scrap books and large photo albums for my business. They are too large for flatbed. What equipment can I buy. I thought about just taking a picture of the picture but how do I go about setting the lighting etc. Help in a hurry.
Answer Hi Gina,
The best method is to find a large scanner - 11x17 should be easy to find. If that's still not large enough, you will have to scan parts of the pages, and stitch them together in an editor like Photoshop (there are others that will work, too).
This turns out to be much easier than trying to photograph the pages, especially because of the differences in reflectivity, textures, colors, etc. Setting up each page could take quite a long time, and you would still end up needing to do a lot of correction and manipulation.
I hope this helps! If you need more assistance in how to do the stitching, or finding software, please feel free to ask.
