Question I have a couple of cheap no-name digital cameras.
When I connect these to the computer they are not recognized.
Are they any generic drivers for such generic cameras?
Answer Hi Paul,
I don't know of any generic camera drivers, and without knowing the manufacturer, I wouldn't even hazard a guess. However, do they have removable memory? Perhaps SD, Compact Flash, or something else? If so, I highly recommend getting your images directly from the card with a USB card reader. This will be faster than hooking up the camera, and will save you on batteries.
If you don't already have photo organization software, try Picasa (http://picasa.google.com/) - a free application with many nice features. It may also be able to recognize your camera directly, but I still suggest you go with a card reader if at all possible.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to follow up if you need more specific help, or have other questions.
