Question
QUESTION: I'm shooting a Nikon D70 in RAW.  This generates an NEF file.  What do I need to do to get Elements 3 to recognize this file extension so I can edit the pic.

ANSWER: Hi  Randy,

Do you have the Camera Raw plug-in (3.2) installed?  If not, this will fix you right up.  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3074
The latest Camera Raw plug-in for the Elements is actually 3.7 and can be found here http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3592 but the 3.2 update is the one that specifically added the D70.  It is up to you which one you want to install, or you can try both.

If updating the plug-in doesn't work, let me know and I can try to assist you further.

Good luck

Sara

QUESTION: I downloaded the zipped file, extracted and ran the Camera Raw executable file.  It opened Elements 3 but when I tried to open RAW files it still didn't recognize them.

Answer
Hi Randy,

Can you check your version to see if the upgrade took place?  I have asked around and done a bit more research, and I am unsure what could be going on.  Please double-check to be sure that the plug-ins are active and then let me know.  What is the exact error message you receive when you try to open the raw files?
