Question My daughter was born with cleft lip and palate. She is now 3 years old and requires many more surgeries. She is receiving speech services, and is a picky eater because of the palate. My question to you is would she qualify for Social Security Disability in New York State?
Answer Stefanie, you need to apply, however, it will depend upon your family's income. If you are Medicaid eligible, then you might qualify on income. I would check with a lawyer in NY that specializes in disability as their may be a state program that would help regardless of income.
