Subject: Work long term disability concerns

Question
My husband is covered under short and long term disability insurance.  At his workplace there is no HR representative to help my husband since he has been out of work for 2.5 weeks.  The injury is not work related. (WE THINK) And he will be out of work for at least another month.  The HR representative is currently working in another state and is unavailable most of the time and when she is she gives us a bunch of crap and no results.  We have been very patient but are getting to the end of our rope because we have car payments and mortgages!  Is there anything we can do?

Answer
Sally, you might need to contact an attorney to force your employer to get this moving.  You can also contact the company directly, which is what I would do.  Make sure you put all your concerns, including every attempt to reach the HR rep, in writing.

I hope this helps,
