Subject: handicapped parking
Question I live in upstate new york and my police station and court house(in same building)has no handicapped parking spaces.and the doors are not handicapped friendly to get in to the police station or court room.
Answer Debra, I'm not sure what your question is but I will assume you meant to ask what to do about it. This facility is not in compliance with federal, and I would be willing to bet, state law as well. Please contact a New York attorney who specializes in disability law; you might start with a state disability advocacy center who can refer you, and sue them in order to get them to comply. Often, attorneys who specialize in this area will agree to take the case for no fee up front as they will receive fees from the suit.
I hope this helps, please accept my apology for the delay, we have had a family emergency.
