Question "If I am approved for permanent disability. Will I still have to pay child support? How does this work?"
Answer Lamont, yes, you still have to pay child support. Social security will direct a portion of your SSI, or 1/2 of your disability, to your children. It is up to you to petition the court in order to prevent arrearages from your order from accumulating. I cannot give you any advice about this procedure in NY. Contact an attorney in your area as soon as possible.
