Disney - children and opening

Question
1. Will any of the waterparks be closed.  We arrive on 1st january 2005 and leave on 14th January 2005?

2. My children are 3 and a half and 6 and a half.  What advice can you offer.  I don't want to completely tire them out as they get miserable but I really would like to make the most of our holiday.

Answer
Dear Dawn,

Thank you for your questions - I am very happy to help!

The only water park that will be closed is the River Country Water Park, which has been closed for about 18 months and is closed indefinitely.  You can check on disneyworld.com for the latest information on closed attractions and rides.

As far as your children, the best thing to do is to plan your schedule, based on the rides, attractions, seeing their favorite characters, etc.  that your family would enjoy the mostI would suggest buying a copy of the Passporter guide for Walt Disney World, which you can get through Barnes and Noble or directly from Passporter at http://www.passporter.com .  It is the definitive guide to Disney World and none of the other guidebooks really compare to the Passporter guides.

I definitely recommend staying on-site at Disney World because then, you can all go back for a rest or a swim in the afternoon.  I would also recommend making Priority Seating dining reservations for any special meals.  Also, go to the parks on the day AFTER the Early Magic Hour to avoid crowds.

Most of all, have a great time!

Best Regards,
Julia Elzie
