About MaryJo Mellado Willey
Expertise
I live fairly close to the Disneyland Resort, and have an annual pass, so I visit the Disneyland Resort quite often.

Experience
I have visited the Disneyland Resort several times each year for several years, and have stayed in each of the hotels. I have a pretty good understanding of the parks, hotels, and Downtown Disney.

Disneyland - Veterans Day at Disneyland

Expert: MaryJo Mellado Willey - 9/13/2009

Question
QUESTION: Hi.  We are going to Vegas for a wedding in November and want to take our girls to Disneyland.  My question - Do you think the crowds will be big/long lines on Veterans Day being it is on a Wednesday this year?  Thanks so much for your time.

Patricia

ANSWER: Hi Patricia,

I think Wednesday will be fine.  Most schools will observe Veteran's Day on Monday, and will actually be in school on the day itself.

If you get a chance, go to the flag retreat ceremony at around 4:30 or so. It will be on your park schedule.  It should be special that day.

Have a great time.

QUESTION: Thanks so much for your info and time.  I thought most of the local schools were off on Wednesday, is this not correct?

Patricia

Answer
Hi Patricia,

Unfortunately, I do not know the answer to that. I do not have children who go to public schools.  However, I looked up LA public school holidays on Google, and it does look like they get Wednesday off, and not Monday/Tuesday.

So, in reading that, I would expect lighter crowds on Monday and Tuesday, with Tuesday afternoon MAYBE getting a little bit more of a crowd, and Wednesday having a bigger crowd.  I don't know if many businesses get that day off, so Wednesday might not be too crowded.

Regards,

Mary Jo
