Question
Hello Mr. Jorgenesen,

I am currently a student at SUNY Geneseo in New York.  I am a Spanish major, but I am also extremely interested in Biology.  I plan on declaring biology as my second major.  However, this would bring me just one problem.  I plan on studying abroad for an entire academic year during my junior year (I am currently finishing up my freshman year) in order to become fluent (or close to it) in Spanish.  So, I was really, really hoping that there are upper-level biology courses that I can take online through a respectable university.  However, my searches haven't been very reassuring.  Specifically, I am looking for (all or any) of Cell Biology (around the 200/300 level) ;  a Human Physiology course (200 level?)   ;   and a basic Microbiology course (200 level?).  Have you heard of any online schools that would offer programs like this?  I can't seem to find any, but maybe I'm just not looking in the right places.  If you have any ideas, please let me know.  Thank you so much.

Answer
Matt:

You may want to check into St. Joseph College (www.sju.edu) which offers a number of biology-related courses and programs. Unfortunately, there are few programs Online for this area of study, but I would bet there will be more in the coming future as Online study becomes the way of the future and more schools (Ivy league included) that offer quality programs Online and at a distance.

Also check out the Illinois Institute of Technology (www.iit-online.iit.edu)

Good luck!

GJ
