Question Hi there, this is a relatively simple question, but I am finding it hard to find and compare prices easily. I was hoping from your experience, you might be able to help me.
I am looking to ship goods from America (Delaware) to my home which is in Australia (Sydney) on a regular basis and am looking for the cheapest way to do this...
I am currently using USPS airmail and was looking for a better option.
I will be shipping large boxes of material, over 50lb per box (and larger if i can find larger boxes/crates, not sure if you can help me with that also?).
I still need it to be sent by air as I need it farily quickly once sent.
Can you help me out? Please ask any questions you need for further clarification if necessary I will get back to you within 12 hours.
Thanks, Brad
Answer A couple of things to consider. What is the time frame you need from the order of products to the receipt of products in Sydney? What is the value of the product? Do you keep any or are you able to keep any stock of the product?
How much capital can you have tied up in inventory, both in transit and at rest while new inventory is coming?
Have you gotten quotes from UPS, DHL and FedEx on these shipments?
What are the largest shipments you could have? What are the average size shipments?
Once you give me a bit more information I can help you get pricing from forwarders to see if they can compete with USPS and the rest of the parcel carriers.
One other option may be to send your parcels (smaller packages) to Los Angeles, we can consolidate them as they come, and then we have several consolidated air freight shipments into Syndey per week from LAX.
Lots of options, but you need to make some decisions about time and cost. Faster is always more expensive, smaller is always more expensive on a per unit basis.
