Question Hello. We will be in DC for 1st time for the holiday celebrations. We're staying in a nearby campground, but would like to tour during the day & have a good 'seat' for the concert & fireworks that night. Will we have to 'reserve' a spot early? Can you just leave lawn chairs unoccupied close to the concert area during the day?

Answer Sorry that I did not response to you earlier, but I was out of town from June 10th-June 24th.
Sure,that is a very good idea to come early, with a blanket (best to come with one you don't mind loosing in the worse case seruio) and spread it and leave it there for the day. There are always an ovious chances like anything else in life you someone might take it, move it or something else might happen but I won't worry about that It will likely be there when you get back in the early evening. I think the show start at 8pm or 9 pm.
After that, I would enjoy the day on the mall in the museums and at the folk life festival as it's the 4th of July !!!!
