AboutStephen Hosmer Expertise Hi everyone, let me introduce myself, my name is Stephen Hosmer. Many people call me Mr. Washington DC for termoudous knowledge I have of the city of Washington DC. My top knowledge of all is the metro system, which I have been riding now for nearly 25 years every weekend to all the major attractions in Washington DC. I have a great wealth knowledge of all the cities great museums and monuments, annual and seasonal events, newly openly museums and short term exhibitions, bookstores and libraries, sports events, parks and recreational area's, local tours (your might want to go on) malls and shopping centers and places off the beaten path which you might be looking for, while you'll visiting Washington DC. I also know a lot about places to eat in Washington DC, from the local fast food McDonalds to the very fancy sit down evening out with your family of four. I also have a great wealth of knowledge of where to get government historical related questions answered. So if you post an all-expert question to me I will try to give you a honest, fast, correct answer all the time.

Question We are thinking of traveling by train to DC. Do we need to plan to rent a car or does the city have good public transportation? Where should we stay (area) to be the safest and have the best opportunity to use public transportation to see all hte sites?
Thank you.
Carolyn
Answer Sorry that I didn't answer your question before now but I had been on vacation between June 10th and June 24th.
Yes, Washington DC has a fantastic metro system which can take you ever where you want to go. To all the museums, shopping, attractions and anything else that you might want to do in the city of washington DC. You don't need to rent a car if you stay in the city or nearby inter suburbs. Metro website is www.wmata.com and there telephone number is 202-637-7000.
For information about where to stay you call the dc tourism office at 202-789-7000 or go on-line at www.washington.org
