the statue on top of the capitol was supposed to be the virgin mary in the earley 1900's but our goverment instead put persephone the goddess of the underworld the motto underneath her E pluribus unum of course means new age order or "new world order" so there for one statue very important in our country has to do with the under world and taking over the united states and then the world this is our goverments plans time for a revolution if you ask me

This article lists the year of restoration incorrectly. I was in Washington D.C. in April of 1994. The statue was encased in scaffolding and being restored at that time. I actually have a dated photo of it. I remember it quite well as it was the highlight of a personal tour.

The Freedom statue was originally designed with a freedom cap on its head. The freedom cap was only worn by Black Slaves who were free me. Secretary of War at the time Jefferson Davis objected to the sculptor's intention to include a liberty cap. I can only conclude that this was the sculpture of a slave. Some may say that the facial features lack African bone structure; that leads to the masses believing that this is a mulatto child (child birthed by slave women impregnated by slave master)which often have an abundance of European facial features.

The truth to this statue is not in the answer above. That answer is what 'they' want you to believe. The true answer, it's a statue of the Greek Goddess, known as the Goddess to the underworld. Her name is Persephone. Look it up. Dont be led down the wrong path.
