Question Dear sir / madam,
My wife has serviced me the Divorce Petition which I have ignored, but I have offered her houses & money. She has passed the Offer to her solicitor. She lives with her lover in Spain.
She refuses to talk to me & says I should go to her solicitor. But I always have insisted on dealing mutually to resolve the finances which are the crumbling blocks of our divorce.
Shall I get a solicitor ? As I hate solicitors.
I can leave to go to the Middle East. What happens if I just go & forget about the whole thing & come back 2 yrs later? I don’t need the 2 houses. I have some £70,000 of my own.
She is working in Spain at the moment, but I believe she has lost her job, that's why she is eager to restart the Proceeding now.
Thank you.
Regards,
T
Answer Dear T,
Moving away will not make your marriage "go away" or end it. You have to legally dissolve it. By hiring a solicitor you can end your marriage faster (as she is refusing to speak to directly) and you may do better in the end. A solicitor can ensure that you are dissolving and separating all that you need to (so that you do not have contact one another again over some debt that was never settled).
I highly recommend that you do some research on the divorce laws of your area (or whereever the divorce was filed). this way when you interview solicitors you can find one that is willing to work with you to obtain the divorce.
