Question I go to court Jan. 9, 2006 to file for my seperation. I live in North Carolina. Am I allowed to date, or is it considered adultery?
Thanks,
Melissa
Answer Dear Melissa,
If you are married, as you will be until you file, it would be adultery. While some states require grounds for divorce, many do not (adultery would be grounds). Visit divorcesource.com to see what your state laws are. Sometimes people use a spouse dating as leverage to discredit them in court or put pressure on the spouse if there are children involved. You may want to speak with your lawyer about how dating may or may effect your divorce strategy.
