Divorce Issues - child support

Expert: Equality in Marriage Institute - 11/16/2005

Question
Hello,

I'm not sure if you can answer this, but here goes: I'm trying to do all of the divorce paperwork myself, but there is one thing I'm unsure on.  I have 2 children, my wife will have custody of one of them, and my other child is in a special home for autistic children.  I know how to do the paperwork for my child living with his mother, but what do I do for my autistic child?  I pay money directly to the place where he lives already, how do I work this into the paper+work I must file?  Do I need additional paperwork for this?

Thanks,
Dan

Answer
Dear Dan,
You may want to contact your local child support agency. The county courthouse or your state bar association should be able to help you find the answer. You could also use google and type in the "name of your county + Children Services". They would be the most knowledgable. Try http://gocrc.com/ to find your state chapter.

I hope this was of some help.
