Expert: Ryan Van Leuven - 3/26/2009

Question
IS THIS A PRESS FIT AND IF IT IS WHAT PULLER WOULD I NEED TO REMOVE IT  IT IS A DINA 60 REAR POSI 3.55 GEARS.CAN YOU TELL ME A FEW TIPS THAT MIGHT HELP ME TO REMOVE IT. the truck was in an accident and was hit on the rear wheel and broke the hub(spindle)off at the rear tube for the rear end
  thanks for your help Lorne

Answer
The axleshaft should slide right out if it is a non C-clip axle. If it is a c-clip style, you have to remove the differential cover to remove the c-clip. When the diff cover is removed, hit the end of the axle shaft inwards towards the diff. and the c-clip should pop out, allowing the shaft to be removed.

If it is non c clip, there should be bolts on the end of the axle housing holding the axle in place. Removing those bolts will allow the axle to slide out.
