Dodge - parking brake

Expert: Ryan Van Leuven - 3/26/2009

Question
I have a 2002 Dodge ram 3500 diesel, 6 speed with manual transmission and it is a dually.  I have recently replaced my pads but I need to know how to fix my parking brake.  Right now when I push in my parking brake it does absolutely no good.  Any help would be beneficial.  I have the hanes manual but it doesn't cover duallies.

Answer
Raise the rear of the vehicle. Chock the front tires. Put it in neutral. You should have a little rummer plug on the rear drum. Remove the plug and adjust the star wheel until the shoes are tighter against the drum. I believe the move the wheel upwards for tighten and down for loosen. Check the pedal again and it should have raised up somewhat but you should have more grab. Adjust until its as tight as you want it.
