Dodge Repair - 1999 Stratus ventillation system

Expert: Steve Forbes - 9/26/2004

Question
When I am turning the switch to direct the air-flow it turns fine between the windshield and 'to the feet'. However, when I switch to upper flow or upper/feet it doesn't do much, and I can hear the motor running like the thing got stuck. Is it possible that something got stuck in there? Can I access this system easily or do I have to take it to a professional?

Answer
Peter,

the problem is one of two things , Both are not very easy. the first thing is called a blend air door, this could be stuck in which case the air box would have to be removed and cleaned out. this means the dash would have to come out . mechanics get about 8 hours labor to do thiThe second and more likely problem is the blend air door motor is bad.
this is still a hard repair and should take a good mechanic about 2 to 3 hrs to do. I dont know how good your mechanic skills are so you may or may not be able to do this .

Steve
