Dodge Repair - 2000 Dodge Ram won't stay running

Question
Hi Pete,

I believe I had left an interior light on in the truck while on vacation. When I returned the battery was dead. I put a charger on the battery to charge it. When I had enough charge, I tried starting the truck. It would only start if I had my foot on the accelerator pedal and would only stay running while my foot was on the pedal. As soon as I let my foot off of the pedal, the truck stopped running. I can hear the fuel pump working, so that appears OK.

Do you think this would be a battery issue or maybe a fuel pump relay problem?

Thanks for your help.

Answer

If the battery went dead the compuiter louses it mem. and the truck will not run on less the compuiter is working as the brain to the idile controll senser . if you need a new bat. i would put it in and if your compuiter does not reset it will have to be reprogamed at a dealer the charge is 45 dollors . i would say make sure dome lights arent left on so you do not go threw this again the cars of today stuiped pete
