Dodge Repair - Car won't start sometimes and cuts off while driving

Expert: Pete Lacey - 12/3/2004

Question
Dear Pete,
I have a 95 Dodge Intrepid, 3.3L engine, standard model. I just recently bought the car and it has started cutting off while I'm driving and even in idle.  It also won't start sometimes.  I can hear the engine trying to turn over but it won't.  Eventually it will start, sometimes right away but more often than not I have to wait anywhere from 10mins to 45mins or more.  Also, sometimes when it cuts off the the cruise light comes on and then it may or may not start right back up.  I noticed the other day while I was going down a hill the cruise light came on and it acted like it was going to cut off but then it just kicked back in.  Do you have any suggestions.  I'm desperate---I've heard everything from starter to coil pack and on and on.  Please help me if you can, I'm a working single mother of 2 young boys and I need to have reliable transportation.  Thanks in advance.
(Sorry if this is a duplicate question, I had trouble with sending it yesterday, it kept timing out and I didn't know if it was going through- don't mean to waste your time.)
