Dodge Repair - NEON SPORT - 95

Question
One of my sparkplugs (the second one this year) broke into pieces and most likely damaged the engine.  It still runs, but no one knows for how long.  The mechanic suggested replacing the engine with a remanufactured engine.  Everything but the engine is still in excellent condition, if you own this car, would you spend the money to get the engine replaced or just use the car until it dies?  Since Neons are pretty cheap (most likely never purchase one - this one was a "give-me" from my father) is this advisable to do?  What is the going price for an engine and how long would it take?  Your professional and honest opinion is greatly appreciated.

With thanks,
Chris
