I will tell you that this is a very common problem with these vans. I went through it as with many others that i know. After much testing and replacing the fuel pump and filter and cleaned IAC valve, MAF sensor and replaced vacume and pvc valve. also tested MAP and TPS. all in all with mine and everyone else I know experiencing this problem, it ended up being the Cam Position Sensor.



As far as the whining noise you are experiencing , there is a pretty common problem with the powersteering pump making noise. I think they actually did a recall for it on the newer models.
