Dodge Repair - overheating

Expert: James Bond 007 - 2/23/2004

Question
The radiator was rodded 2mos. ago. I replaced the thermostat. when I looked the electric fan was running. My 99 hundai accent will over heat while standing in traffic (bumper to bumper)but it happens intermittantly. I have minor fluid loss(gets hot, pushes it out thru the overflow). Could it be a bad electrical connection or a water pump? There are no hundai experts if James Bond can't fix it it's worthless.

Answer
With the engine cool this is what I want you to do. Remove the radiator cap, and run the vehicle until operation temp. Also the radiator fan should come on while the engine gets hot, make sure you watch for that. With the engine at operation temp, look in the radiator, and see if the coolant is circulating. If not the water pump is not circulating the coolant. Let me know what ya find... TY......
