Dodge Repair - strange noise in engine

Expert: Steve Forbes - 9/29/2004

Question
I have a 1994 dodge caravan with 83,000 miles on it. It started to take a long time to shift. and it was making a whinning noise that incresed as speed incresed. I checked transmission fluid but it seemed ok. The car is an automatic transmission. It now shifts ok but still makes this noise.

Answer
John,

this could be almost anything from the water pump to the trans convertor.

Dodge has had a lot of trouble from the convertors. You may want to get an area that the noise is comming from. this would help guide me in the right direction.  Let me know about where it is coming from
