Question I have boxer siblings who are 12 months old. I live in South Dakota and it can get cold at night. I like to have fresh air when sleeping and I enjoy the cool temperature. My puppies are crated together in my bedroom, as they choose the crate over our bed. I am wondering if they get cold at night? It doesn't seem to bother them, but I am paranoid that they may be cold at night. Sometimes when I get up in the morning it is about 50 degrees in my bedroom....is that too cold for them? Can I put a blanket over their crate, to help keep it warmer for them?
Answer Hi Rachel,
I wouldn't worry about them getting too cold. If you are comfortable they should be. I have a boxer myself and I live in Wisconsin and I keep my house cool at night as well and he has never had any problems.
Putting a blanket over their crate wouldn't hurt. As long as they can cuddle up together they will be fine. Tossing an extra blanket into their crate for them when it's cold would work too. If they get chilly then they can burrow into the blankets.
