About Jeff Lutton
Expertise
How to pick a good kennel, dog daycare or overnight facility. Should I leave with friends or have a dog walker come into my home. How do I know that my pet will be taken care of properly?

Experience
I have had a dog since I was 3 years old. In my professional life I was traveling quite a bit so my dog boarded more often that I would have liked. I got tired of the corporate world and now own a doggie day care and overnight facility. My expertise is in how to pick a kennel for your pet when you travel.

Dog Boarding/Kenneling - hookworm in soil

Expert: Jeff Lutton - 8/10/2007

Question
Do you know what to use to disinfect soil that has hookworm
from feces of the Dog?
I need to know what to put on to the grassy areas, to kill the worms etc.
I can't seem to find a good answer from just search engines

Answer
I'll take a shot at this.

Hookworms die immediately when exposed to direct sunlight.   The simple answer to kill the worms is to remove where they live, the feces.  I might avoid the area for a week or two if you know an area has been infected, especially in bare feet.  But hookworms are fragile creatures outside the body so unless you live in a jungle I wouldn't be too concerned.

Hope this helps.
