Question
I have been breeding beagles for 18 years now. However I have come across a problem with my current breeding. My females came into heat 10 days ago, She will stand for him to mount her, though she is not flagging. She will let him attempted to breed, but once he gets it inside of her she freaks out and it causes him to back off. Is it a bit early still for her or should I go the route of AI? He seems unaffected if I assist, she however wont stand still if any penatration takes place. Thank you for your time and concern.

Answer
Hi Meme

10 days may be a bit early for her, especially if she's not flagging.

Has she been breed before? Have you had her checked prior to breeding?

Occasionally, on some females there is an extra band of skin around the vulva that needs to be surgically cut.  You can do a quick internal and you feel the restriction, if of course, that's the issue.
