Question QUESTION: My dog is about 2 yers old this July and we bred her last May 2, 2008, I counted the last day of heat and today June 30, 2008 is her 58th day, I'm wondering, her belly is sagging but her tummy is not that full...is she pregnant?
Recently also, there's a flood here and she need to cross the house for her safety, is this ok?
ANSWER: Hi Ivan. She could be having a small litter, or maybe she was bred later than you thought? If she's this far along, you should be able to feel the puppies move by now. If there's only one puppy, or a small litter, they may be harder to feel, but you should be able to feel something. Treat her like she is pregnant, just in case. If she goes over her due date, you can take her in for an x-ray to tell for sure. I'm not sure what you meant by "she need to cross the house for her safty", it's probably a blond moment on my part.:-) I hope you guys are ok! And if I can help with anything else, let me know.

Answer Well, it does happen. My very first Boxer litter, my girl only had one puppy. It can and does happen. As for your question on palpating, do this: Lay your girl on her side. Put one hand under her close to her ribs, but the other one on the opposite side, starting the same place of the other hand, close to the ribs. Run both hands down to her hips slowly, you should feel something if she is pregnant.
