AboutSusan Expertise Positive: understand dog food ingredients, types of supplements for different situations (mostly organic), types of home cooking, premium commercial foods, single/novel protein sources and switching to this diet, have represented Healthy Pet Net Company for two years and Simplexity Health Supplements for one year.
Negative: Cannot and will not diagnose but via my experiences, strengths, trials with my own pets and discussions with nutritional experts will share my research and learning with you.
Experience First and foremost living with rescue pets who came to me with a multitude of nutritional, dietary and physical problems. I still spend every free moment I have learning even more about how to make my pals even healthier and happier. But when something is not "broken" I do not try and fix it. I will write to people who have questions and ONLY share my own experiences with a food or product. The rest is up to them.

Question I am getting a new puppy this week (British Lab). Currenty they feed the dog Nutrisource large breed puppy. What can you tell me about Nutrisource dog foods?
Thanks
Answer This is the first time I have heard of this food. I researched it and it certainly, as far as commercial dog foods go, is at the high end. Having said that, why don't you home cook, learn about supplements, veggies and fruits and really start this pup out right. Have you considered RAW? Raw is a bit tricky though, and even I have not gone that route--at least not yet. But I do not feed my dogs (3) anything commercial as most of it is so synthetic and fake--no matter what the packaging says.
I sent the ingredients to the nutritionist I use and she was not happy with this food but said, when pushed, that it at least had a few better ingredients than some of the others. This is a choice you have to make.
I would certainly contact a nutritionist, learn about reading labels, learn about REAL FOOD SUPPLEMENTS AND VITAMINS AND consider home meals. If time is an issue then of course, use this food you asked me about. Also, keep in mind that pups NEED MORE FAT THAN ADULT DOGS...do not forget this. So, for his first year you might want to use the Nutrisource for puppies--if they have one for pups. It is VERY IMPORTANT that pups have a higher fat content than adult dogs--please remember this, OK?
I really wasn't much help to you but I wanted to share my thoughts. Hope it helped somewhat. Sue
