Question
QUESTION: my mini schnauzer is 16 mo, 15 lbs, and has just recovered from acute pancreatitis.  I have been feeding him rice mixed with boiled hamburger while he's been recovering.  am now looking for a dog food that will work for his little tummy.  yesterday tried a frozen raw food, 1 ts. and his tummy has growled all night. am afraid of him getting sick again.

thanks, Dar

ANSWER: Hello Dar - sure, I can help your baby with pancreatitis....
Don't do any raw for this kid, cook all meats.
Here is some help for you- I have many clients on this food and adding cooked white meats to the mix:
It is called SOJO and it is Grain - free ( the green bag) - you can find this at many pet stores or FREE shipping with this link:
Please get the green bag and mix in only cooked WHITE meats / no red meats for now...
http://www.sojos.com/index.aspx?affiliate=petnurse

Dogs with pancreas problems need to eat mostly White meats and GRAIN free foods are a big plus.
FEED him 2 x per day with the SoJo mix -
In the afternoon you can offer some Dry food :

ONLY - Wellness Core - Low fat formula- REDUCED FAT formula-
Let me know if you can't find the Wellness...
I would give him only 1/4 cup per day of this dry food.

ALSO ***- Most of my doggie and cat clients take the NuVET Holistic supplement daily:
I would give him 1 NuVET wafer per day - HELPS with healing and digestion... over-all GREAT vitamin / can't buy this in any pet store-
Call 1-800-474-7044 ( TELL them you are working with Pet Nurse Marie and your pet has pancreatitis.... Give them order code 81098 - this is a VET or Pet Professional referral code)
You are looking for the NuVET Plus Wafers or Powder-
http://www.nuvet.com/81098

Keep me posted - Let me know if you decide to do the SoJo home cooking mixes... ( with cooked meats, only)

Take care!

Answer

Wonderful - Glad you are going to try the NuVET Plus Vitamin and the SoJo Grain free dog food mix!!!! GREAT

As far as the Dr Jone's products, I don't know of him at all....( I will look him up )
I mainly work with Nature's Sunshine, NuVet, and SoJos....
There are a number of vitamins and herbs that I refer to from the Nature's Sunshine Brand...
95% of my clients take the NuVET and love the results...

Keep me posted-  Go slow with the SoJo - You may even want to start out with 3 very small SoJo meals per day - and a very small snack of the Wellness Dry dog food.
It is best to feed 3 meals ( very small) per day to a dog with pancreas probems...(IF you are able to be home at the Noonish time hour )

Keep me up-dated -  Offer me a progress report every 30 days to my private e-mail here:

Thanks!!!
