QUESTION: Hello, I have been hearing alot about the importance of the source of protein in dog food. What is considered a good protein source? What is considered a bad protein source? My dog is 11 months old, male (neutered), pit bull mix, 40 lbs. Thanks.

ANSWER: Hi Rachel - Meat is the answer -  white meats or red/
I like the following brands : excellent with no junk fillers like corn and rice.
1. Innova EVO ( fine for dogs over 10 months of age)
2.  WELLNESS CORE - meat or the OCEAN is fine
3.   Merrick Before Grain - all fine
THE key is grain free foods if possible
