Question I have a Weimaraner puppy that is 12 wks old. Every time I go to feed him he goes crazy, like he has never eaten in his life! Is this normal can this be calmed down. We have to put a baby gate up at the utility room so he can eat seperate from the other dogs or he will barg in and eat their food out from under them. But when food is around he completely focused on that and nothing els.

Answer Hi Brad,
I have to admit that one of my guys is the same way and has been all his life. Some dogs are just severely food-motivated, far more than others.
If you're concerned, you could try calming him with a Bach Flower Essence. Vervain is good for overexcitability and hyperactivity. If he's doing it out of possessiveness, you would want to combine the Vervain with Vine. But if he's just over excited and not showing any dominant tendancies, you don't need the Vine.
Also, if he's eating too quickly, he could get stomach upsets. Adding a good digestive enzyme blend such as Prozyme will help him fully digest the food and prevent gastric problems.
You could also feed him very small frequent meals. This will be much easier on his stomach than large meals.
