Question hi, my 1year and nine month old german shepard-weimeramer has been eatign grass lately. Hes crazy for it, as soon as he goes outside he starts eating it rigth away! then almost every mourning he barfs it up! We have been having some problems gettign the right food, we have benniful right now and tehy seem to like it, could he be lacking something in his diet that makes him want the grass? My other dog, a four year old multese poodle also eats grass when she goes outside too but not as much
Answer Hi Sam,
I have found that some good digestive enzymes can help with this. The foods they're eating are notoriously difficult to digest, since they're made up primarily of corn and other grain fillers. This is probably what's causing the stomach upset and the need to eat grass.
I would recommend Prozyme - it's a blend of digestive enzymes designed for dogs to give them the ability to digest the grains in dog food as well as get as much nutrition from it as possible. In my blends, I mix them with probiotics, but you can start with just the enzymes if you want.
