Question i adopted an 18 month old mastiff from rescue centre 3 wks ago he has always had itchy ears but i cant see anything in there so i bought some drops but he is still itching and now i can see a rash developing on the back of his ears and under his armpit on his front leg and also in his groin and behind the ear do you know of any thing i can put on him as we also have a german shepherd who keeps licking him constantly, many thanks
Answer I would change the food he is eating. It sounds like an allergic reaction. Try something with a single protein. Or a food for sensitive skin. Such as a lamb and rice formula. Make sure you are using a high premium food. Use a hypoallergenic Shampoo when bathing, until you get to the bottom of the problem. When switching foods, make sure you do it gradually. (eg, 25% new stuff with 75% old stuff for a few days, then 50/50, then 25% old, and 75% new) give it about 4 weeks of being on a new food to know if it is an allergic reaction. Contact your vet if any problems persist! Good Luck!
