Question Ok this is a question I've always wondered about but never got a clear answer. I have a Shih Tzu and I groom him my self, is it ok to cut his whiskers and eye lashes (his eyelashes are SO long)??? His face always gets wet and dirty and I was going to trim it up a bit to see if it helped but I dont want to do anything wrong!! Please let me know!!
Answer Hi Shawna. Dogs, cats, rats, rabbits, etc. all use their whiskers to measure how wide an opening is. Basically, if their whiskers will fit, in the hole, their body will fit.
Eyelashes protect the eye from forgiven objects. Trimming eyelashes can be very dangerous - I don't know of many dogs that will hold still for this, so please be careful.
It is really not necessary to trim either the whiskers or the eyelashes. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions. Sincerely, Penny D.
